# GMEOW

**An LLM output is a claim, not a truth.** GMEOW, the Global Metadata and Entity Ontology for the Web, is a substrate for grounded agent memory and claim provenance: every fact an AI system stores or emits is held as what it actually is, an attributed, time-scoped, confidence-weighted claim, open to contradiction, revised by suppression rather than deletion, and grounded in mechanically checkable evidence.

The engine underneath is a reasoning-centric, OWL 2 DL, upper-ontology-grounded super-vocabulary. It unifies document metadata, entity descriptions, legal agreements, contacts, person-centric data, scientific observation and measurement, location, rights, identity, evidence, and digital existence. Its Location, Observation and Quantity spine can describe anything from a contact card to a gene, a star, or an n-dimensional mathematical object.

The canonical IRI is `https://blackcatinformatics.ca/gmeow`. Blackcat Informatics publishes the ontology as a formal DOI-bearing dataset with human-readable documentation, canonical RDF serializations, profile graphs, reasoned closures, alignments, projection examples, flattened term exports, VoID/DCAT metadata, CSL citation metadata, GTS bundles, native RDF 1.2-aware documentation, and a read-only SPARQL endpoint.

## Product Surfaces

The v0.2.0 realignment presents the substrate as products while keeping RDF as the authoritative engine below the surface:

| Product | What it is |
| --- | --- |
| `gmeow` CLI | Five-minute client and repo-free consumer CLI: inspect the bundled ontology, describe terms, verify bundles, transpile RDF, project profiles, export docs, and run the MCP server. |
| Grounded-memory MCP server | `store_claim`, `recall`, and `revise_belief` tool calls for agents, backed by the claim, standpoint, evidence, and suppression model. |
| GTS package | A content-addressed, append-only, signable single-file agent-memory package, portable across sessions, models, and vendors. |

## Download and Access Surface

## Content Negotiation and Apache Layout

Apache serves `/gmeow` as a linked-data namespace document. HTML clients receive the publication page. RDF clients can negotiate Turtle, RDF/XML, N-Triples, and JSON-LD serializations. Term IRIs under the namespace 303 to native term documentation, while root serialization targets remain available as stable files for direct download, validation, and citation.

The BII site also serves RDF 1.2-native docs generated from the same GTS snapshot rather than relying on legacy pyLODE output. The generated documentation tree under `/gmeow/docs-full/` includes reference pages, guide material, profiles, slices, linkages, examples, and a search index.

## Scope

GMEOW is designed for grounded agent memory, claim provenance, standpoint-aware evidence, digital identity, document and contact metadata, legal and rights metadata, observation and measurement, location, scientific description, and ontology projection. It aligns by reference to major vocabularies and ontologies including schema.org, FOAF, GeoSPARQL, vCard, iCalendar, OWL-Time, ODRL, SPDX, Dublin Core Terms, OntoLex-Lemon, Web Annotation, BOT, RDF Data Cube, Wikidata, PROV-O, ORG, BFO, QUDT, SOSA/SSN, FALDO, IVOA, CIDOC CRM, and gUFO.
